Tour Itinerary
After pickup, you will start your journey towards Eklingji, a small yet historically significant town located 20 km from Udaipur. As you drive through the scenic Aravalli hills, your guide or driver may share fascinating insights into the history and significance of the region.
Upon arrival, you will visit the Eklingji Temple Complex, one of Rajasthan’s most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites. This temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, was originally built in 734 AD by Bappa Rawal, the founder of the Mewar dynasty. The temple complex consists of 108 beautifully carved temples made from marble and sandstone, reflecting the grandeur of Rajput-era architecture.
Inside the temple, you will find the four-faced idol of Lord Shiva, made from black marble, representing his omnipresence. You can take your time admiring the intricate carvings, towering shikharas (spires), and detailed sculptures that adorn the temple. Feel the spiritual ambiance as you witness devotees offering prayers and chanting hymns in devotion to Lord Shiva.
After soaking in the divine aura of Eklingji, you will head back to your vehicle and prepare for the next leg of your journey.
Leaving Eklingji behind, you will embark on a scenic drive towards Nathdwara, located approximately 30 km away. Nestled in the Aravalli hills, Nathdwara is famous for its Shrinathji Temple, one of the most revered Krishna temples in India.
Before reaching the temple, you may choose to stop for lunch at a restaurant of your choice. Nathdwara is known for its traditional Rajasthani food, including dal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi, and mawa kachori—a sweet delicacy that’s worth trying.
After lunch, you will proceed to the Shrinathji Temple, which holds a special place in the hearts of Krishna devotees. This temple is dedicated to Shrinathji, a 12th-century black marble idol of Lord Krishna as a child, believed to have miraculously appeared in Govardhan and later shifted to Nathdwara to protect it from Mughal invasions.
As you enter the temple premises, you will witness an atmosphere filled with devotional chants and music. The temple follows Pushtimarg traditions, founded by Vallabhacharya, and is considered one of the richest temples in India due to the offerings of gold, silver, and precious jewels.
The darshan (viewing of the deity) takes place at specific intervals throughout the day. If you’re lucky, you may get to witness a special aarti (prayer ceremony), where devotees gather to sing bhajans in praise of Lord Krishna.
After visiting the temple, you can take a stroll through Nathdwara’s bustling market, known for its Pichwai paintings, handicrafts, silver jewelry, and Rajasthani textiles. These intricate paintings depict Lord Krishna’s life and are highly sought after by art lovers and devotees alike. You can also explore shops selling sweets, incense sticks, and other religious souvenirs.
As the sun begins to set, you will depart from Nathdwara and enjoy a relaxing drive back to Udaipur. Along the way, you may stop at a viewpoint to admire the scenic beauty of the Aravalli hills or grab a cup of masala chai at a roadside stall.
Upon reaching Udaipur, you will be dropped off at your hotel/residence, marking the end of your spiritually enriching Eklingji & Nathdwara Temples Tour.
