Tour Itinerary

Your Eklingji Nathdwara Haldighati Day Tour from Udaipur begins with a comfortable pickup from your hotel or any preferred location in Udaipur at 8:00 AM. You will meet your experienced chauffeur or guide who will accompany you throughout the day, providing insights into the rich cultural and historical significance of each site you visit.

Your first destination is Eklingji Temple, located 22 km from Udaipur. This magnificent temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the most revered religious sites in Rajasthan. Built in 734 AD by Bappa Rawal, the temple complex houses 108 smaller temples, all enclosed within high walls. The main temple stands out with its double-storied architecture, a striking pyramidal roof, and intricate carvings that depict Hindu deities.

As you step inside, you will notice a beautifully crafted four-faced idol of Lord Shiva (Eklingji) made of black marble, standing 50 feet high. The silver and brass statues of Nandi (Shiva’s sacred bull) add to the temple's charm. Devotees from across India visit Eklingji to seek blessings and admire the peaceful ambiance. The temple is known for its Monday prayers when the Shiva Lingam is elaborately decorated and worshipped.

After exploring the temple and its surroundings, you will continue your journey towards Nathdwara.

A 45-minute drive from Eklingji takes you to the town of Nathdwara, home to the famous Shrinathji Temple. This temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna, is one of the most significant pilgrimage sites for Vaishnav devotees. The idol of Shrinathji, a form of Krishna as a young boy, was brought here in the 17th century from Mathura to protect it from Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.

The temple architecture resembles a Haveli (mansion-like palace), as it was initially housed in a royal palace. The idol of Shrinathji is adorned with exquisite jewels and colorful attire, changing multiple times a day based on different darshan (viewing) schedules. The temple atmosphere is filled with devotional music, prayers, and the lively presence of devotees.

Take some time to walk around the town of Nathdwara, which is famous for its Pichwai paintings, a traditional art form depicting Krishna’s life. You can also explore the local markets, which sell religious souvenirs, handicrafts, and sweets like ‘Makhan Misri’.

After experiencing the spiritual aura of Nathdwara, you will proceed towards Haldighati, the historical battlefield of Maharana Pratap.

A 30-minute drive from Nathdwara brings you to Haldighati, a historic mountain pass in the Aravalli Hills, located 40 km from Udaipur. The name ‘Haldighati’ is derived from the yellow-colored soil of the region, resembling turmeric (‘Haldi’ in Hindi). This site is famous for the Battle of Haldighati, fought on 18th June 1576 between Maharana Pratap of Mewar and Raja Man Singh of Amber, a general of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. The battle was one of the most ferocious fights in Indian history, where the Rajput warriors showcased immense courage against the mighty Mughal army. One of the key attractions here is the Chetak Samadhi, a memorial dedicated to Maharana Pratap’s loyal warhorse, Chetak. According to legends, Chetak was severely injured in the battle but still managed to carry his master to safety before breathing his last. The white marble Chhatri (cenotaph) built in honor of Chetak is a place of reverence for visitors. At Haldighati, you can also visit the Maharana Pratap Museum, which displays weapons, paintings, and life-size models depicting the battle scene. The museum provides an immersive experience with audio-visual storytelling, giving you a deeper understanding of Rajput valor. After exploring the battlefield and its surroundings, you will begin your return journey to Udaipur.
By 5:00 PM, your Eklingji Nathdwara Haldighati Day Tour comes to an end as you are comfortably dropped back at your hotel or preferred location in Udaipur. The day leaves you with unforgettable memories of Rajasthan’s spiritual heritage, artistic grandeur, and historical bravery.
